Program Overview
The MSNPL degree is awarded upon successful completion of 9 courses comprising 36 credits. Students take one course during each seven week term, enabling most students to finish their degree in less than two years. The curriculum will challenge you to identify limitations and mindsets that inhibit strategic thinking, develop a framework for creating strategic options, and discern leadership behaviors that contribute to managing change and uncertainty in nonprofit organizations and their environments.
The program consists of:
- Core Courses provide essential knowledge and pave the way for more complex learning.
- Concentration Courses provide the opportunity to delve further into students' specific area of interest, allowing them to expand their scope of learning.
- Capstone Project — enables students to use the skills learned within the program, in a practical problem-solving situation.
Excel in a Truly Demanding Field
The NEC MSNPL program will equip students with the skills required for leadership in the nonprofit sector. This sector is a highly diverse set of organizations. They all hold resources in trust for the public, and are expected to maximize the effective use of those resources in the public interest. Whether the organization exists for the furtherance of charitable purposes, educational goals, political effectiveness, or use of foundation resources, NEC recognizes the importance of nonprofit organizations, and is determined to provide sector leaders with the highest-quality education that will enable students to foster the sustainable growth of their organization. As NEC MSNPL graduates, they will be empowered with the tools and the skills necessary to ensure the health and success of their organization and to develop a culture of community, service, and fiscal responsibility, with the effectiveness expected of leaders in today's nonprofit organizations.
Study Online, but Never Alone The online delivery of the NEC MSNPL program may be new and different to some learners. Understanding this, NEC uses a team of professionals who support each student's progress throughout this rigorous program. Each student has direct access to Faculty, and will be assisted by a Student Services Manager, Admissions Advisor, and Technical Support Team, throughout the online process, from admission to graduation. Each student will progress through the program with a cohort of approximately 13 to 15 students who learn together and provide peer support and a sense of community in the "virtual environment." NEC's Technical Support Team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to help students resolve any technical difficulties.
