The teacher understands how learners grow and develop, recognizing that patterns of learning and development vary individually within and across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas, and designs and implements developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences.

Concentration Options
As an MEd student, you have options. If you’re new to the field of education, NEC offers eight licensure pathways. If you’re already a teacher or administrator, you can choose from five concentration areas or pursue licensure as a principal.
New Teacher Licensure Options
All MEd programs for new teachers include 14 weeks of student teaching experience. You will work with an advisor to secure your student teaching site.

Courses and Curriculum
To complete your Master of Education, you will take 22 credits in the program core plus 12 credits of electives in your concentration area (34 credits total). Students seeking principal licensure will take 23 additional credits for a total of 45 credits.
